“Life is on-line, off-line and should be in line with your Values and Goals”.

That’s why we, the Hawks, started a campaign on Father’s Day. At our last game of the season we not only celebrated the improvement of the team during the spring but we decided to support a good cause – carry on the baton from the Relay of Life event a week earlier – and play our last game of the season for Colin and all other children and adults who are fighting on another playing field than we, as soccer players and coaches, are battling on.

With our “This Goal Is for Colin” slogan we played in his honor, we raised some money and we learned some important life lessons – as athletes on any level we should be role models for our club, community and family and what better way of showing that by turning our passion for the sport into a goal of bigger proportion – we, the Hawks, will play the entire next season for Colin in support of his fight and the American Cancer Society. Donations can be made by visiting www.LetsFightCancer.org . For every Hawks win I will donate $10, for every time we don’t allow the opponent to score I will donate $10, for every goal we score I will donate $1 and for every save our goalies make I will donate $1.

I challenge each one of you to match my donations throughout the 2009-2010 Season! Go to www.LetsFightCancer.org for more information and how to get involved.

“Life is on-line, off-line and should be in line with your Values and Goals” – We, the Hawks, will remember to give it our best shot – on and off the pitch – throughout the whole 2009-2010 season!

Lars Bolin,

Coach, Parent and a big Friend of the Hawks!

East Hudson and Yorktown Youth Soccer host Special Needs Kids

On Saturday, May 2,2009 East Hudson Youth Soccer League and Yorktown Youth Soccer Club will host a day of outdoor soccer for the Special Needs Activity Center for Kids ( S.N.A.C.K.) of New York City at the YCCC field.

The day will include ninety minutes of soccer on a grass field - a first for most of these New York City children who mostly play in the basement of a building - followed by a box lunch, a goodie bag and an awards presentation. Each child will also receive a complete soccer kit with socks, shorts and jersey donated by Protime Sports  (www.protimesports.com ).

Here are some of our winners:

GU10 Lightning just took 1st Place in the Carmel tournament.

Edward D'Amore of the BU12 Rockets has been selected for the  Boys 97 North ODP  Region 1 Developmental  Camp as Goal Keeper.

The BU17 Yorktown Knights and the BU14 Strikers volunteered their time on May 2nd to help S.N.A.C.K. (Special Needs Activity Center for Kids). It was a fun day had by all!

GU10 Lightning just took 2nd place in the LaGrange Cup tournament. Congratulations girls!

GU12 Hawks just won their first game of the season with one girl down the entire game and no subs. It looks like your patience and hard work is finally paying off!

Our BU13 team, the Gladiators, are true winners. They went out as a team to help clean up Yorktown on Earth Day. You boys have represented your team and your club well. You are great role models. Continue keeping up the great work! Thanks to Debi Schmutzer for organizing the event.

Congratulations to BU10 United for winning first place at Washingtonville - the Kick-It Klassic. The championship game ended in a tie and United had to go to a Shoot-out.
